LF Printech is a small business co-founded by Dr. Ming Leu and Dr. Fateme Fayyazbakhsh in March 2022. The primary objective of LF Printech is to perform research to advance and optimize additive manufacturing technology and to develop innovative applications to address unmet needs in the market.
As an early-stage small business, LF Printech is currently putting significant emphasis on product commercialization.
We maintain a strong commitment to rigorous research and development (R&D), ensuring that our products and services adhere to the highest quality standards. We are enthusiastic about introducing our innovative products to the market and creating a positive impact on our customers. Our previous and ongoing research activities have received funding grants from U.S. federal agencies including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and the Department of Defense (DoD).
Ming C. Leu, President of Printech
Dr. Ming C. Leu co-funded Printech in 2022 and is currently serving as the President of LF Printech. He currently also holds the position as the Keith and Pat Bailey Distinguished in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Missouri University of Science and Technology. Dr. Leu has about 30 years of research experience in 3D printing the additive manufacturing, which includes 10 years of research in bioprinting in the past 10 years. He founded the Center for Aerospace Manufacturing Technologies in 2004 at Missouri S&T and served as its Director until 2016. and He
also served as the Director of the Intelligent Systems Center, 2003-2020. Prior to joining Missouri S&T in 1999, he was a Program Director at the National Science Foundation, 1996-1999, the State Chair Professor in Manufacturing Productivity at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, 1987-1996, and a faculty member at Cornell University, 1981-1987. Dr. Leu obtained his Ph.D. degree in 1981 from the University of California at Berkeley, his M.S. degree in 1977 from the Pennsylvania State University, and his B.S. degree in 1972 from the National Taiwan University. Dr. Leu’s publications include more 500 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings, one e-book, and 10 book chapters. His research and creativity has resulted in 5 granted U.S. patents. For his scientific and technological contributions, Dr. Leu has received numerous professional awards including the SFF International Freeform and Additive Manufacturing Excellence (FAME) Award (2020), ASME Milton Shaw Manufacturing Research Medal (2018), University of Missouri President’s Leadership Award (2017), ASME Blackall Machine Tool and Gage Award (2014), among others, as well as several best paper awards.
Fateme (Sha) Fayyazbakhsh, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Printech
Dr. Fateme Fayyazbakhsh is the co-founder, Vice President, and CTO of LF Printech, as well as an Assistant Research Professor at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T). She received her Ph.D. in Biomaterials from Tehran polytechnic (2017, Tehran, Iran). She was the product development manager at ChitoTech (Tehran, Iran) for three years, where she gained experience in clinical wound healing and wound care product development. Her research has contributed to the understanding, innovation, development, and application of novel formulations and fabrication methods to develop advanced wound care products. She is a co-inventor of a novel 3D-printed dressing composed of natural hydrogels, bioactive materials, and advanced nanoparticles for wound healing and regenerative medicine.
